Training on Finance and Budgeting in Teslić

Recipe for success: a quality budget proposal

Published on: March 20, 2018

"This is our first training of this type and it is very important that managers and financial officers from judicial institutions participate in the training," said Zeljka Radovic, the chief prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Doboj, while attending the training in Teslic on March 20. The training was co-organized by USAID’s Justice Project in BiH and the Center for Education of Judges and Prosecutors of Republika Srpska.

The focus of this training was the elaboration of high-quality budget proposals for a three-year period, as a basis for drafting a budget request in the process of allocating annual funds for the work of institutions. A high quality and well-reasoned budget proposal is crucial for ensuring adequate budgetary resources.

The participants had the opportunity to discuss the basic principles of budgeting, i.e. how to determine the real budget, which is fiscally responsible and economically justified. It was concluded that setting priorities in this process is of highest importance, and to allocate the limited budget funds in the best possible way.

Trainers at the event were Consultants of USAID's Justice Project in BiH Svetlana Radovanovic (Assistant Minister of Finance of Republika Srpska) and Zuhra Osmanovic-Pasic (budget expert).
