USAID’s Justice Activity (JA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Prosecutor’s Office (PO) of Bosnian-Podrinje Canton (Goražde) have signed today in Goražde an agreement “Prosecutor Partnership Program” (PPP). This program is an integral part of a broader project specially designed to provide support to the judiciary in BiH throughout 5 years (from October 2014 to October 2019).

This partnership agreement, foreseen to provide support to PO Goražde, has been signed by USAID JA’s Chief of Party Biljana Potparić-Lipa and Chief Prosecutor of PO Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Mirsad Bilajac.

One of the main goals of the Project is to provide support to judicial institutions in BiH in their endeavors to efficiently implement criminal proceedings in the cases of corruption, misuse of the official position and other high-profile cases of economic and organized crime.

Besides PO Goražde, 4 additional POs in BiH have been selected as partner institutions that will be given support in their work within the next 2 years of Project implementation. Still, by the end of the Project (October 2019), inclusion of all POs in BiH has been planned.

Expert and technical support provided to POs in BiH by USAID JA includes improvement of work of prosecutors on the aforementioned cases, enhancement of management practices as well as increasing transparency in the work of POs and strengthening good practices in the field of public relations.
